Keep asking questions.
In a world of half truths and misconceptions questioning is good. Whether shopping, reading or simply conversing its important to test the information you receive before you internalise.
We are more likely to take in and blindly accept information which closely fits our own beliefs or values. This can be dangerous, potentially leading to the spread of false information or simply making us unwilling to understand full, complex stories.
Our unwillingness to understand each other, be it background or culture, has led to many injustices throughout the world. So isn't it important to test the information we receive in order to reduce more justice issues?
Not everything you read is true and not every question has a simple clear cut answer. So where do you go to find answers? Although subjective your own experience or that of a friend can often go a long way to providing understanding but often it's necessary to supplement this knowledge with a little research on the internet or a little reading. Sometimes all you need to understand to be more empathetic is that your life and that of another are equal, valid and intricate but attitude and actions can be derived from different upbringings/ experiences and so are very often different.
Your opinions may not match but understanding another's perspective can reduce tension greatly. So let's make 2019 a year where we seek information, understanding and acceptance.
